GPK WRAPPERS

Topps, Inc have released over 35 different Garbage Pail Kids series in the United States alone...and each one has come in its own unique WRAPPER. This page is intended to serve as a visual aid to help collectors differentiate the various releases throughout the years.

ORIGINAL SERIES

The Original Series wrappers were called Wax Packs, meaning they were sealed using a sealing wax and heat as opposed to glues or adhesives. Each pack came with five stickers and 1 stick of bubble gum. If the packs are not stored properly, it can lead to serious deterioration to the gum and eventual damage to the stickers. ALL NEW SERIES

For the All-New Series packs, Topps abandoned the Wax Packs and switched to wrappers that are made of foil. The stickers are sealed inside the foil on top, bottom and the back (similar to a bag of chips). The number of stickers per pack varies for most of the All-New Series releases. Depending on the release, anywhere from 4 to 10 stickers can be included in the packs. FLASHBACK SERIES

Topps began releasing Flashback Series in 2010. For the Flashback Series packs, Topps changed the packaging up once again, and switched to a wrapper that is similar in appearance to the All-New releases, but made out of a paper-type material. The number of stickers per pack varies for most of the Flashback Series releases. Depending on the release, anywhere from 4 to 24 stickers can be included in the packs. Similar to the Original Series and All-New Series releases, there are a number of different wrapper variations for each Flashback Series release. BRAND NEW SERIES

Topps began releasing Brand New Series in 2012. For the Brand New Series packs, Topps changed the packaging up once again, and switched back to a wrapper that is similar in appearance to the All-New releases, made out of a foil-type material. The number of stickers per pack varies for most of the Brand New Series releases. Depending on the release, anywhere from 4 to 24 stickers can be included in the packs. CHROME SERIES

In August, 2013 Topps finally gave their Garbage Pail Kids some SERIOUS lovin' with a shiny Chrome Series release. It is unclear just how many series they will release, but Series 2 was released in August, 2014. Here's hoping there's at least ONE MORE series in the pipeline so we can all enjoy a JOE Blow Chrome card!!

YEARLY SERIES

In November, 2013 Topps AGAIN changed up the naming of their Garbage Pail Kid releases and decided to put the release year as part of the name...giving birth to the Yearly Series. These wrappers are a similar material to the most recent Topps releases (aside from the 2013 Mini Cards which is a tad smaller obviously).

THEMED SERIES

Never content to leave their naming convention alone, Topps dropped the 'Year' from their naming convention for the 30th Anniversary Series. Then, in 2016 they released the 'American As Apple Pie In Your Face' series. Obviously these names are a mouthful but they seem to be focused on a unique theme per series. These Themed Series wrappers are a similar material to the most recent Topps releases.

MISCELLANEOUS RELEASES

Throughout the years there have been a number of other Garbage Pail Kids releases that come with a 'wrapper'. This section is to serve as an example of SOME of these releases, and in no-way is it intended to capture everything. I will update this section from time to time, so keep checking back for updates!
