STILL JILL

Sculpt Image

  • CHECKLIST #: 1
  • HEIGHT: -
  • CARD-TO-SCULPT ACCURACY: High
  • FACTS AND OBSERVATIONS: The most unique choice of a character to turn into a sculpt is far and away Still Jill. Her unparalled detail, combined with the extreme attention paid when creating a sculpt that represented the card image, make Jill far and away the most popular 2nd Series sculpt.

MOUTH PHIL

  • CHECKLIST #: 2
  • HEIGHT: -
  • CARD-TO-SCULPT ACCURACY: Medium
  • FACTS AND OBSERVATIONS: A fairly common, yet widely unpopular sculpt when it comes to 2nd Series Cheap Toys. The character was an odd choice to begin with since only half of him is visible in the card...leaving it up to the artist to model the remainder. Also, making him stand with his bat between his legs as opposed to over his shoulder removes the 'baseball' feel of the character. However, those reasons pale in comparison to the number 1 complaint - which would be his butt cheeks. The back of this sculpt is so humorous in it's depiction of Phil, it ends up ruining the figure. Suffice it to say, he's wearing some tight pants that are ridin' high. If you're ever around a Mouth Phil figure...don't forget to check it out.

ALI GATOR

  • CHECKLIST #: 3
  • HEIGHT: -
  • CARD-TO-SCULPT ACCURACY: Medium
  • FACTS AND OBSERVATIONS: Nothing too special about this figure...it is a good representation of a good card. The decision to model Ali with his mouth closed, as opposed to open with a fish in it seems to take a little of the humor out of the character.

GALLOPING GLEN

  • CHECKLIST #: 4
  • HEIGHT: -
  • CARD-TO-SCULPT ACCURACY: High
  • FACTS AND OBSERVATIONS: The only Cheap Toy (1st and 2nd) to have more than 2 legs. Next to Still Jill, this has to be the most unique choice of a character to turn into a figure. The choice works though as Glen is a fan-favorite amongst Cheap Toy collectors. The success is due to the wonderful attention to detail in the sculpt...all the way down to the missing tufts of fur.

BESERK KIRK

Checklist Image
Sculpt Image

  • CHECKLIST #: 5
  • HEIGHT: -
  • CARD-TO-SCULPT ACCURACY: Low
  • FACTS AND OBSERVATIONS: Kirk is the least accurate of all the 2nd Series sculpts when it comes to comparing him to his card image. Rather than attempting to capture his movement as depicted on the card, Novo Bonbon chose to model him standing up. And his menacing left hand that appears to be poised to swipe in the artwork, comes off looking more like a wave in the sculpt.

CATTY CATHY

  • CHECKLIST #: 6
  • HEIGHT: -
  • CARD-TO-SCULPT ACCURACY: High
  • FACTS AND OBSERVATIONS: When comparing Cheap Toys to their card images, a lot of time some details get left out or added in...and sometimes the character gets changed altogether (cough *Adam Bomb* cough). That being said, Cathy might be the most accurate of all the 20 figures released. Every detail is there - from the fishbone in her mouth...to the rat in her hand...to the fat-lumps down her back.

LES VEGAS

  • CHECKLIST #: 7
  • HEIGHT: -
  • CARD-TO-SCULPT ACCURACY: High
  • FACTS AND OBSERVATIONS: Novo Bonbon did a good job of capturing the little details of Les when creating the sculpt. At first glance, many assume they just decided to leave his guitar out of the sculpt, however if you turn him around, you will find his guitar strapped to his back. A nice little detail that sticks true to the card image.

PICKY MICKEY

Sculpt Image

  • CHECKLIST #: 8
  • HEIGHT: -
  • CARD-TO-SCULPT ACCURACY: High
  • FACTS AND OBSERVATIONS: Picky Mickey is the rarest of the 2nd Series figures, with only 9 documented in collections around the world. Mickey is another card that some might question turning into a figure, but no one can argue that the character was captured brilliantly in the sculpt.

DISTORTED DOT

Sculpt Image

  • CHECKLIST #: 9
  • HEIGHT: -
  • CARD-TO-SCULPT ACCURACY: High
  • FACTS AND OBSERVATIONS: Distorted is currently the most common of the 2nd Series sculpts. This sculpt in particular illustrates just how much attention to detail Novo Bonbon put into their toy making...being able to capture the distortion from the card and portray it in the sculpt is quite a feat!

FISHY PHYLIS

Sculpt Image

  • CHECKLIST #: 10
  • HEIGHT: -
  • CARD-TO-SCULPT ACCURACY: Low
  • FACTS AND OBSERVATIONS: Phyllis was an extremely odd choice for a figure, and the idea wasn't helped much when the sculptors decided to remove the sardine can - which was an important part of the 'gag' on the card. Now, she appears as just a mermaid, which isn't necessarily a clever concept. Also, with the odd base, she tends to be one of the more difficult figures to display.
